Nathan Hartono's 爱超给电 Official Fan Party | Geylang Serai Bazaar

Following the recent winning of tickets to the CLEO Most Eligible Bachelor party, I actually also won tickets to Nathan Hartono's mini-concert, which they called his 'official fan party' but it was less party and more fan(girling) on a lot of our parts. I went to this with Helena and we were both SUCH HUGE FANS!!!! I'm kidding, we didn't even know who he was until that day itself, which kinda says something. Well, to be fair, I should have been more aware than she since he's Singaporean and I'm Singaporean and Helena's definitely 100% American.

I had alumni duties in the morning, which comprised of selling t-shirts and eating at the VIP table with the vice-principal, so I only got out of school sweaty and gross at about 1-ish pm. We barely made it to Funan before the stipulated time but turns out you still had to queue for about 30 mins in the humid weather before they let anyone in anyway.

This was the part when we found out they were giving out free milo (!!) but they were the bottled kind and tasted weird (think metallic taste) to me. Helena tried hers and liked it but mine's still sitting in the fridge due to abovementioned dislike towards metallic-tasting beverages. The photobooth was pretty empty by the time we got into the venue so this happened:

After these shenanigans, everyone gathered in front of this little stage and Nathan performed a few songs, including his own songs, which we obviously didn't know the lyrics to #fakefansforever!!!!! There was also this quiz that you could win very attractive prizes for but we didn't (and I'm glad we didn't) participate because it would have ended very badly had we entered. That was about it for the mini-concert; after the set he just took pictures with all of us at the photobooth - a really nice gesture!

We walked around the VCH/Esplanade area for a bit before having an unhealthy Macs dinner, during which I made Helena try the curry sauce (she liked it). Then we took the train to Paya Lebar to visit the Ramadan Bazaar! I had only one goal there - to get a henna tattoo because I'd already had most of the hipster food the past few years I was there. There were so many people that it was kind of intimidating to walk into the crowd in the aisles. So we didn't.

Got my henna from one of the larger stalls near the front of the bazaar. It's one week later that I'm writing this and I regret to inform everyone that the henna did not survive my incessant hand-washing. How sad.

The one food item that we got was a shaved ice bowl which was WAY TOO OVERPRICED!!! I know, most of the food at the bazaar were definitely overpriced but this looked nothing like the picture and just tasted... sweet? I've attached expectations vs. reality pictures below and c'mon what a cheat (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

This is my 'I spent too much money on this to not get a photo opp out of it' smile 🙂

FYI, I went to both events on the same day, it's just that the tulle on the skirt got a bit too itchy and uncomfortable that I decided to change back into sweaty school attire HAHAHA

#CLEOSGEB Finals Party

A while back I was scrolling through instagram when I saw cute dude pictures from CLEO announcing their Most Eligible Bachelor competition because surprise surprise I was following their account.... for work. Semi-yelled at my friends for a bit and then I thought heck it, I'll just sign up for the free tickets.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, I'd already forgotten about this entire fiasco. I opened my inbox one day to clear out junk email and there it was - a 'congratulations you've won a pair of tickets' email in the promotions tab (which is a place that hardly ever sees the light of day). Semi-yelled at my friends again and here we are.

I left work at the usual ~early~ time and met Ashley at Central..... to have cup noodles for dinner. Well, I did dabao my tom yum soup from lunch but neither of us wanted anything remotely hot/spicy after shin ramen so I trashed that. Hobo-ed around in an alcove on a higher floor of Central while Ashley made me listen to the new BTS comeback album which I was at first sceptical about but ended up really liking Fake Love.

We tried finding our way to Capital Zouk at 7-ish because we wanted to be late but not so late that you actually miss stuff and it was drizzling outside so we (I) had to make sure none of us broke any legs while walking there. The whole of Clarke Quay was all hyped up and cool and everything I'll never be on a Friday night so we walked on. Reached in one piece at a not-so-fancy entrance that had a sign announcing registration.

After the whole stamping multiple things on our arms and whatnot we went in and as soon as we entered the actual lounge area reality kind of hit us like what do we do now? The logical thing would be to a) find a place to sit or b) get a drink then find a place to sit. Now at this point, we must establish that I'm the only one out of us two who drinks and free alcohol is a real plus point in social situations. I exchanged my ticket for a glass of red wine, accepted a paper bowl of salted egg yolk chicken (yum!) and we spied this semi-inconspicuous couch near the back where we camped at for the next 10 minutes.

I said 10 minutes and not the entire event because sometime later while we were on our phones being general wallflowers, we both spied this flashing LED drink that we were curious about. So we went around trying to find someone to ask and eventually one of the bachelors pointed us in the right direction.

It turns out that to get the drink, you're supposed to stare into one of the bachelor's eyes and the guy was pretty cute 🤷🏻‍♀️ We did end up doing that and getting a really attention grabbing drink each (which was kind of a bad idea considering the fact that we were trying to be inconspicuous lol).

At this point, the bachelors were all gathered on the stage doing their introductions/games and whatnot so everyone's attention was on the stage. That left the fringe booths quite empty and was the perfect chance for us to get to do the stuff that we were eyeing when we came in. There was a spray-on tattoo booth (I got a heart but it faded off in the shower), a fabric patch booth and a customisable tote booth. Ashley and I just went around doing everything, then watched the show on the TVs around because there was such a HUGE crowd around the stage.

We left right after the winner was crowned and this was after a really disappointing striptease and me redeeming Ashley's wine ticket for sparkling rosé which by the way was REALLY DELICIOUS and I want more of it as I'm typing this. I actually went to google and apparently, rosés aren't supposed to be expensive hmmmm
